Why does betting money disappear so fast?

The weekly pot
After rent and bills she moved 300 TL into a separate 'weekend' pot. When it was gone, the week was done. No top-ups.
The 2% rule
Each bet was capped at 2% of her monthly total, about 25 TL. Ten losing slips in a row would still leave most of the pot.
Sunday, five minutes
Every Sunday night she wrote down what she'd bet and what happened. After three weeks she noticed she did well on corners and badly on accumulators, so she dropped the accumulators.
One month later
She hadn't topped up once and still had 60 TL left on the last weekend. 'Less exciting,' she said, 'but I'm still enjoying it.'
